Adam Matthew Digital selects the AVATAR publishing management system

Adam Matthew Digital, the leading provider of digital archive content for the social sciences and humanities, has selected the integrated AVATAR publishing management system to replace its existing separate sales order processing, financial management, and spreadsheet based royalties systems.

According to Amanda Andre, Finance Manager at Adam Matthew Digital: “Our quest was to find a system that would give us all the standard features of a good financial package but would also resolve the problem areas that our growing business had generated. Multiple re-keying of data from one stand-alone package to another, reliance on a multitude of spreadsheets, inflexible invoicing and payment options, manual collation of data for reporting, and control of royalties have been our main issues. This exposes us to error and is also very time consuming. At the moment we are also to do very little analysis of our data as we just don’t have time and it isn’t in a format to facilitate this.

“Once we have implemented AVATAR we should save at least two days a week of staff time and this will enable us to provide our senior management with the kind of business performance reports, including on product profitability, that we just can’t do at the moment, and in the formats that they need them. We will gain time and enhance our efficiency and professionalism.

“We reviewed other systems but felt that AVATAR would provide the best solution for us, particularly with automating our royalty calculation and payments procedures. We have also just set up a new company in the US which will invoice in dollars so we will need to take advantage of AVATAR’s multi-currency invoicing and reporting capabilities.

“As a system offering us specialised publishing options together with the financial functionality and versatility that a growing company needs, we are confident that AVATAR will give Adam Matthew Digital the solution that it needs, for now and for future development.”

Ian Singer, the IT partner at PKF Littlejohn LLP responsible for the development and management of the AVATAR system, said: “It’s a real pleasure for us to be working with such a professional and forward thinking content provider, and, through the implementation of AVATAR, to be providing AM Digital with a robust and powerful business management system that will enable the business to grow successfully and profitably.

“AVATAR offers publishers a system that has, as its core, a powerful accounting solution, integrated with flexible and publisher-specific modules including rights and royalties. Their new AVATAR system will enable the AM Digital management team to spend much less time collating and reconciling data and much more time analysing integrated sales data and other essential publishing business information.”
