Garnet Education selects the AVATAR publishing management system

Garnet Education, the UK's leading independent ELT publisher, based in Reading, has selected AVATAR to manage its new warehouse fulfilment and distribution requirements.

According to Richard Peacock, General Manager: "When we were evaluating our likely system requirements ahead of the establishment of our new warehouse we realised that our existing, generic accounting and fulfilment system, even with ongoing manual intervention, would not reliably enable us to meet either current or future book trade expectations and so did not represent a sustainable option for the management of our books sales processes and communications.

"Having evaluated the affordable solutions available, we selected AVATAR because, as a publishing specific system with sophisticated financial management and reporting capabilities, we were confident it would both meet our immediate stock control, order processing and sales reporting requirements, including integration with Teleordering and Amazon and handling shippers, but also provide us in due course with a fully integrated publishing business management system. This will include all-important automated costings management and rights and royalties calculation and payment facilities."

Ian Singer, the IT partner at PKF Littlejohn responsible for the development and management of the AVATAR system, said: “We are delighted to welcome Garnet Education as a new client. They are a well-established company with some exciting ideas about how to succeed in the challenging world of publishing.

"The issues they are facing today will be resolved promptly and cost-effectively by AVATAR but it is equally important that their future needs can be met by a software solution that will continue to be developed in line with the changing demands of the publishing industry. We are confident that AVATAR will be that solution and look forward to forming a mutually-beneficial partnership with Garnet over the coming years.”
